Portrait of owners of the Bide

our story.

We always seek out holidays that combine our two passions in life; design and nature. We wanted to design a space that would help people find some solace from the city and recconect with the great outdoors.

A labour of of love, we designed and built the Bide by hand during lockdown. Scott is one half of architecture duo ReFrame Studio. Caroline’s background is in furniture buying for the Conran Shop & Heal’s.

Sustainability is at the heart of the Bide. Designed using the Wikihouse system, the FSC wooden frame was cut by CNC and bolted together by hand. Lowcarbon materials have been used; including sheep’s wool and woodfibre insulation. Showcasing new sustainable technologies such as the decentralised MVHR system and the Nebia vapourised water shower which uses 40% less water than a regular shower. There are eco touches throughout.

The Bide is an inviting cosy space, designed to encourage you to enjoy restorative views from the picture window and long lie-ins in our luxurious Naturalmat super-king size bed.

Set on a working farm in Dorset, there’s plenty of rolling pastures. You might meet some of the locals; cows, sheep & geese!
